Trading education, brewed slow
Coffee & Chartsby Ved
Read the market the calm way. Context first, then confluence, then timing, then the entry. Risk management in every cup.

Charts are better with company
Small Sunday-morning sessions. We open the week's charts on a big screen, walk through structure and levels together, and talk about process over filter coffee.

Your questions
Journals, rules, mistakes. We review process together, never individual tips.
House rules
- No buy or sell calls, no stock tips, no selling of courses or signals at the table.
- Nothing discussed is personal financial advice. You are responsible for your own trades.
- Be kind to beginners. Everyone started with a blown account or two.
Learn trading
One process, five cups
Every trade goes through the same filter in the same order. Skip a step and you are guessing.
Zoom out before you zoom in
The higher timeframe decides which side you should even be looking for. The lower timeframe only decides where you get in.
- Trend first. On H4 or Daily, is price making higher highs or lower lows?
- Mark the map. Previous day high and low, weekly open, big supply and demand zones.
- Check the calendar. CPI, FOMC and NFP days move differently. Know them before the open.
- Then drop down. Only now open M15 or M5 to look for a trade inside the plan.
One reason is a guess. Three is a setup.
Tick what your chart shows right now. The circles only meet when the reasons agree.
Setup grade No trade
The same setup, a different hour
A breakout at the London open and a breakout at 03:00 IST are not the same trade. Liquidity changes everything.
- Trade when the big desks trade. London open and the London to New York overlap carry the most volume.
- US index futures: the cash open is 09:30 New York time. The first 15 minutes are the wildest.
- Stand aside around news. Spreads widen and stops slip in the minutes around CPI or FOMC.
- Daylight saving moves the clock. These bars follow the real London and New York time, so they stay correct all year.
Break, retest, then commit
An entry is the last step, not the first. It only exists inside the context you already marked.
- Trigger. Price closes beyond the level. A wick alone is not a break.
- Confirmation. It comes back, tests the level, and holds.
- Execution. Enter, put the stop beyond the point that proves you wrong, set the target at the next level.
- Management. Never move the stop further away. Ever.
Size the position from the stop, not from hope
Decide how much of the account one idea may cost, measure the distance to your stop, and let the maths pick the size. The example is a Micro E-mini S&P (MES) trade, where one point is worth $5.
Rounded down to whole contracts, so you never risk more than your limit.
Ten losses in a row
It happens to every trader. What is left of a 100% account?
Win rate you need to break even
Before fees and slippage. A bigger reward lets you be wrong more often.
| Risk : reward | Break-even win rate |
|---|---|
| 1 : 1 | 50.0% |
| 1 : 1.5 | 40.0% |
| 1 : 2 | 33.3% |
| 1 : 3 | 25.0% |

About us
Hi, I am Ved
Trader, educator and the person pouring the coffee. Coffee & Charts started as a few friends looking at Sunday charts together. It grew into lessons, tools and meetups built around one idea: a calm, repeatable process beats a lucky prediction.
Process over predictions
We teach how to think about a chart, not what to buy tomorrow.
Risk comes first
Every lesson ends with the same question: how much can this cost me?
Free to learn
Lessons and tools stay free, kept alive by people who buy a coffee.

Trading involves substantial risk of loss. Futures, forex, options and other leveraged products can lose more than your initial deposit. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
1. Educational purpose only
All content on Coffee & Charts, including posts, videos, tools, calculators, meetups and social media, is for general education and information. It is not an offer or a solicitation to buy or sell any security, derivative, currency or other financial instrument.
2. Not investment advice
Nothing here is personalised investment, financial, legal or tax advice. Coffee & Charts and Ved are not registered with SEBI as an Investment Adviser or Research Analyst, and do not provide stock recommendations, tips or calls. Speak to a SEBI-registered adviser before making investment decisions.
3. Risk of loss
- Leveraged products magnify both gains and losses.
- Gaps, slippage, platform outages and fast markets can cause losses beyond your planned stop.
- Most retail traders lose money trading derivatives. In SEBI's own studies of equity F&O, a large majority of individual traders made net losses.
4. Past and hypothetical results
Charts, examples and backtests are for illustration. Past performance, whether real or simulated, does not guarantee future results. Hypothetical results have limits: they are made with hindsight and do not include all real-world costs.
5. Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for your trading decisions, position sizes and results. Calculators and tools are provided as-is and may contain errors. Always double-check numbers before placing an order.
6. Meetups
Meetups are informal educational gatherings. Attendance is at your own risk. No buy or sell recommendations are given, and selling of financial products or services to attendees is not allowed.
7. Donations
Donations are voluntary gifts that support free content. They do not purchase any product, service, advice or access, and are not refundable.

We link to outside sites such as TradingView, YouTube and economic calendars. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or policies.
9. Privacy and cookies
